Story Summary
Xia Xun, an ordinary man who, after witnessing the cruelty of Jinyiwei, an imperial military secret police serving the emperors of the Ming Dynasty in China, decided to stand up for ordinary people. His path led him to his future wife and sworn brother, as well as a prince and his wife. His prowess caught the attention of Jinyiwei's top buyer. They recruited him to the agency and trained him to become an elite Jinyiwei. Meanwhile, the newly ascended emperor ruled with an iron fist and did not tolerate dissidents. Seeing the plight of the people, he secretly began to help the prince ascend the throne and restore peace to the land.
