During the primary year of sovereign yongle of ming the regal specialist jing qing and his whole family were beheaded by the emperor. However, the eldest daughter was rescued and adopted by Sun Zhong under the name Sun Ruowei. Years later, the mysterious but powerful Qingzheng Cult secretly manipulates Sun Ruowei by marrying her ambitious Prince of Han, Zhu Gaoxu. Sun Ruowei, however, somehow becomes an imperial concubine of (then) crown prince Xuande, whom she had previously met during her earlier adventures. Now the concubine of the son of her enemy, she planned revenge, but eventually gave up her own personal revenge for the citizens of Ming, and eventually fell in love with her husband. After the premature death of the Xuande emperor, Sun Ruowei experienced the success of her son, emperor Yingzong of Ming, and the Jingtai emperor. With her wisdom and ability, she saved the Ming Dynasty from danger several times, helping her son to become a noble and virtuous ruler.
